DOG LICENSING

Township Ordinance 134-5. No person shall own, keep or harbor any dog which has attained or shall attain the age of seven months or shall possess a set of permanent teeth, within the Township, unless he first obtains a license and official metal registration tag therefor, issued by the Board of Health upon application and payment of the prescribed fee. 

  • The licensing period is July 1st through June 30th of each year.

  • Dogs 7 months or older require a license.

  • Fee:    $12.00 Altered/Spayed     $15.00 Not Altered/Spayed  

  • Acceptable forms of payment: Cash, Check payable to "Lacey Township", Debit/Credit Card $3 processing fee, Check/Sav Account (Online option only) $1.50 processing fee 

  • Current rabies must be valid for 10 months of the upcoming licensing period; proof is required, unless provides Exemption Letter from Veterinarian.

  • A $20 late fee will be applied if not licensed within 45 days of June 30th.

     Online processing fee, per license:  $1.50 checking/savings account fee –OR– $3 credit/debit card fee

     Create an Account: 

  1. Visit http://sdl.town/Lacey and click Create an Account
  2. Fill out required information
  3. Search and select Lacey as your primary town
  4. Click the activation link in your email

     Register your Pet- Renew or New Application: 

  1. Visit http://sdl.town/Lacey and select Pet License Registration
  2. Complete required pet information
  3. Upload a copy of the Rabies Vaccination Certificate 
  4. Once you submit your request, you will be redirected to a third-party site for payment
  5. After submitting payment, you will receive a confirmation email
  6. Be on the lookout for the license in the mail!

APPLY VIA MAIL

  1. APPLICATION: Dog License 
  2. Print and fill out the application
  3. Mail in the Application, Payment (cash or check “Lacey Township”) & Proof of Rabies to 818 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731 ATTN: Dog License
  4. Be on the lookout for the license in the mail!

APPLY IN PERSON

     Office Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm, closed for lunch 12:30-1:30pm

  1. APPLICATION: Dog License 
  2. Print and fill out the application
  3. Drop off the Application, Payment & Proof of Rabies to 124 South Main Street, Forked River, NJ 08731
  4. Be on the lookout for the license in the mail!

  • Dogs must be on a leash. / Cats must be in a carrying case.
  • **Please bring proof of prior Rabies Vaccination for a three- year certification.
  • **If you don't bring proof, a one-year vaccination certificate will be issued.
