beach bash - 2016
On Saturday, June 18th the Lacey Township Recreation Department held its 3rd Annual Beach Bash at Lake Barnegat in Forked River. This summer Recreation Director Jim Wioland centered the celebration around Charles “Bud” Mezera and his 50 years working with the Beach Patrol. Bud began his career with Lacey Township in 1967 as a lifeguard and under his leadership has grown the program from 5 badge checkers to over 20 life guards, including swim lessons and a Junior Life Guard Program. The celebration was attended by over 200 guests who enjoyed the beach, swimming, kayaking, as well as music by DNA, a Caribbean infused pop music duo. Speakers and guests included former Mayor John Parker, Recreation liaison Committeeman Tim McDonald, Committeemen Gary Quinn, Nick Juliano and Pete Curatolo, Township Administrator Veronica Laureigh, the Rotary Club of Forked River and the Lacey Food Bank.
