There was a full house at the Governing Body Meeting Thursday night, June 20th with residents, family and friends all in attendance to celebrate the successes of our township employees.
Patrolman Dimitrios Tsarnas was sworn in as Sergeant by Township Clerk/Administrator, Veronica Laureigh. Family and friends were in attendance for his promotion and we wish Sgt. Tsarnas the best of luck in his new role. Chief Michael DiBella and Lt. Chris Cornelius were in attendance this evening to present the Gallantry Star to the team of detectives who were instrumental in the arrest of the man responsible for three bank robberies in Ocean County. This special award is given for the arrest of a person who is a major physical threat to the community at large. The accused was arrested on June 6, 2019 due to the hard work of our great team of Detectives at the Lacey Township Police Department. Those honored were Detectives Brian Flynn, Kymberly Gudgeon, Adam Ewart, Sam Della Sala and Keith Pearce.
Mayor Tim McDonald was presented with a check for $10,000.00 from Tony’s Workwear in Forked River. Tony’s Workwear is celebrating their 40th Anniversary here in Lacey and in honor of their father Tony Munafo’s love of fireworks, wanted to give back to the community by increasing the size of our fireworks display this year. Prior to the fireworks on July 3rd, residents can enjoy the music by White Rabbit. Thanks to Tony’s Workwear for their very generous donation and for always helping out in the community!
Township Administrator Veronica Laureigh presented a “check” for 177 pounds of food to the Lacey Township Food Bank. This 177 pounds of food represents the combined total weight loss of township employees that joined the weight loss challenge to work toward a healthier lifestyle. The challenge was from February 8th to May 24th.
