4/22/2020 - Ocean County Library Digital Services During Health Crisis

 Ocean County Library

The Ocean County Library is providing various services through their website (www.theoceancountylibrary.org) while their public buildings remain closed during this pandemic.

First, for any Ocean County residents who do not have an Ocean County Library card can sign up for a FREE digital library card through the library website. The digital library card will be valid for 60 days.

On the home page of the website, a patron simply clicks on the tab called "Services" and they'll see a link called "Get a Card".  Once on the "Get a Card" page, they'll see a link called apply for library card online.  After filling out the online library card application they will receive a notice through email when their digital library card information is ready.

Once they have their digital library card, one can access the digital library borrowing collections like Hoopla & Overdrive. Additionally, with their digital library card patrons will have access online to our educational databases, such as World Book Online or Universal Class to name a few.

The borrowing limits for digital library book services have temporarily increased due to the public health crisis.  Once the crisis is over, these digital borrowing limits will return to normal.  See information below:

    1) Hoopla - You can now borrow 10 items per month (regularly 8)

    2)  Overdrive - You can now borrow 10 items per month (regularly 5)

Also check out the book reading challenge called "Cabin Fever" that runs now through May 31, where patrons can read or listen to any 3 books.  Patrons can enter the reading challenge on our website by clicking on the "Books & More" tab then clicking the link "Reading Challenges".  From there patrons can sign up for the challenge by creating a Beanstack account which is Free to use.
